Hello Richard...Harley Hoover here. I "googled" my name a few months ago and came up with your post on me, I now have the time to reply......
I made it home to Marion, OH six days later. We discussed my biking through St. Louis... I ended up crossing the Mississippi at Alton-they have a bike lane on the bridge and it looked easier than going through St. Louis. It was pretty easy. Then heading home on Rt. 40 I made pretty good time.
It was great meeting you and Eric. If you have a chance, check out my blog @ marionstar.com and search by my name: hwhoover. I do some biking locally in Marion.
In 2010, I want to go from Mission, Tx to Canada..so I am keeping in shape for that.
Thanks for the blog spot and maybe I will see you on the trail again.
Harley
