Still, I'd like favorable wind!
5.22.2007
Larned, KS
I'm not complaining that HWY 56W turned south in Great Bend and that the 23 miles to Larned were into headwinds of 30+ MPH. The shoulder were plenty wide enough for bike wobble and I also got to take a rest at a farmers coop in Pawnee Rock, where an ice cold diet pepsi was 50 cents and I learned that Pawnee Indians used to keep a scout on top of a nearby rock to spot wagon trains. If the winds had been favorable I probably would have blown by and never learned that tidbit of history.
