Day 1: St. Louis to Treloar, MO

Saturday morning was perfect fo the start of the trek from the Arch to Tor House. Jessie and Alexa were at the Page Bridge to see me off, and Ann, Barbara, and Jack were there with their bikes. So when Erik and I set off down the trail, we had a flotilla with us!

The trail was busy from the bridge to Weldon Springs, where Ann and I parted. We won't see one another again until we meet in St. George, Utah. Barbara went back with Ann. Then, between Weldon Springs and Defiance, Erik was having problems with a tire. We all got to Defiance, where a bike shop replaced the tire and tube.

Jack continued with us to Marthasville, where he branched off to meet Barbara in Washington, and Erik and I continued to Treloar, where we experienced our first act of generocity: the owner of the Treloar Bar and Grill said we could pitch our tent behind his house.

We were both tired and slept well, except for the times some drunks were wanting to fight one another. Thankfully, I don't think they knew we were nearby.
