First Bike Ride of the Year

Today I went biking for the first time this year on the Katy Trail: from Defiance to Dutzow. Spring is just starting in Missouri, though it was cool enough early in the morning that I had to wear a long sleeve and light gloves, and most everything was drab and gray, except for the first blooms of forsythia and a red bud in Defiance which a week from now will be burst of color.

I stop in the Augusta shelter for a picture.

I drink coffee on the porch of the cafe just off the trail in Dutzow.

MO HWY 94 crosses the Katy Trail. To the left is Augusta; to the right, Marthasville.
